It was a mixed bag of feelings, after people watched NFL New England Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady, jump off a rocky cliff with his 6-year-old-daughter Vivian. Some thought it was amusing, while others thought it was irresponsible parenting.
Tom Brady later posted the video clip on Instagram and Facebook, “If Vivi is going to be an Olympic champion one day, it probably won’t be in synchronized diving.”
Tom then followed it up his post commenting jokingly, “I didn’t want to be the first Brady to fall off a cliff!”
Considering Tom Brady is Captain America to some folks, he may have set a bad example here. It is unknown where exactly this took place but either of them could have been injured from the awkward jump.
Seen in the video, Tom grabs Vivi’s hand then begins to count down from three. He yanks her with him into the water below, barely missing the rocks. Some people said their heart pounded while they watched the video.
Are people merely overreacting? Perhaps so, some didn’t understand the risk involved. “When she hesitated, he could of dislocated her shoulder! He snatched her into the water! Smmfh…,” one commenter wrote.
Tom is married to supermodel Gisele Bundchen. She hasn’t commented yet about the incident.
Some people on social media are even suggesting that Brady should be suspended from the NFL, citing his actions as “child abuse.”
Dwayne The Rock Johnson commented, “You KNOW I have complete faith in you as a man, friend, player and father – but this just gave me anxiety. Geeezus 😂👏🏾👏🏾”
And pro surfer Kelly Slater commented, “That shoulder ok? 😬”
Other celebs like Steph Curry, Diddy, and Brett Favre thought it was hilarious, but some of Tom’s fans weren’t laughing.
One user commented, “Really stupid move🙏🏽 so happy your child was not injured. You should not take a life for granted and you did.”
And another chimed in, “She’s your child Tommy! From what I see that wasn’t your best pass. You were a little off.”
No update yet but Tom will likely respond to all of the criticism.
This isn’t the first time that Brady has taken such a leap. Back in 2015, he posted a video to Facebook of him jumping off a cliff feet first into water while vacationing in Costa Rica. He put the hashtag #AirBrady on the post, with the caption, “Never doing that again.”
