This is the day when Star Wars fans once again will find their way into movie theaters around the country. Expect big box office numbers as the seats continue to be filled. The cold winter weather, isn’t slowing down many people, as they make time for another science fiction epic installment of one of the most memorable movie series of all time.
One of the top trending phrases right now is “When does Star Wars come out?”. This is an indicator that the force is strong with these movie goers. Prepare to sit down for a 2 hour and 33 minute joyride of sci-fi fantasy.
This release of Star Wars, will be one of the very last appearances by actress Carrie Fisher as she passed away this year on December 27, 2016 in Los Angeles, California, USA. She was 60 years old. Fans, family and friends are expected to pour out in honor of the late actress. Her last known screen credit will be in the film Wonderwell (2017).
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is both written and directed by Rian Johnson. He has previously written and directed the film 2012 film Looper. Rian has also been apart of the television series Breaking Bad, that turned out to be a large success.

Potentially, this film could shatter every box office record to date with enough turn out. There hasn’t been a lot of films released to be excited about in quite some time. With a Star Wars film, people know what to expect and are eager to see the next installment of it.
With early reports coming in, Disney/Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi is off to a good start. Expected to open somewhere around $202-$208 million opening day. This already places the film as perhaps the 3rd or 4th best all time opener right after Force Awakens ($247.966M), Jurassic World ($208.8M) and Marvel’s The Avengers ($207.4M). The film should be at least the second best opener released in the month of December, right behind Force Awakens.
Episode VIII (The Last Jedi) will pay homage to the original Star Wars trilogy released. This is the second act of a three part series. There are different issues that arise. The visual spectacle of the film should leave fans eager for more among familiar themes. There are surprises ready for fans that they may not have expected. Mark Hamill’s performance as Luke Skywalker is what made him a star and his star shines brightly in this film release.
Much like the Original Trilogy, this film tributes itself upon the power of myths and legend. Rey played by actress Daisy Ridley takes up the reigns in this adventure. She is conflicted with her own origins, not understanding that she alone…has the power within herself to write a new passage in this brave new world. These mystifying myths, truly shape the thinking of the lost innocence of youth.
So what do the Star Wars fans think? ComScore/Screen Engine reports a mind blowing five-out-of-five stars for the movie and a 90% overall positive with an 82% definite recommend. Forty five percent said that the Rian Johnson-directed movie came in above their expectations while close to 40% said they’ll the movie again in the theater. Huge. Older men over 25 came out in droves at 44% followed by females over 25 (24%), men under 25 (22%), and females under 25 (10%). Disney has another hit in their hands, as they reap the rewards at the box office.
