It was a fluke accident, as 65-year-old supermodel Christie Brinkley broke her arm while rehearsing for televisions ‘Dancing with the Stars’. Realizing she could not go on, her daughter Sailor will step in to replace her for the upcoming season.
Joking about the incident, Christie said, “Showbiz is all about getting a break, and Sailor and I both got one on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ this season. Sailor joined the cast, when I got mine…ouch somebody stop me, it hurts to laugh!”
The update is, Christie not only broke her arm but her wrist as well. Christie Brinkley is an iconic American model. She has been considered one of the most beautiful women in the world in her prime.
She gained worldwide attention and fame by appearing in the late 1970’s on different Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issues. Christie appeared in an unprecedented three consecutive covers starting in 1979.
Christie Brinkley has three children, Sailor Lee Brinkley-Cook, Alexa Ray Joel and Jack Paris Brinkley Cook. She was formerly married to singer and songwriter Billy Joel, François Allaux, Peter Halsey Cook and Richard Taubman.
Brinkley’s 21-year-old model daughter Sailor, has quickly stepped up to the plate to take her mom’s spot upon the dance floor. Many have compared her to Christie, as they look very much alike. Sailor has also done some modeling like her mother and is prepared to fill her shoes literally on ‘Dancing with the Stars’.
It seemed effortless for her to wear her mother’s dress. It fit her perfectly it seemed. Carrie Ann Inaba said on Monday morning’s “The Talk” that this is crazy. Christie is 65 and her daughter is 21. The dress didn’t even need any alterations.
Sailor danced the foxtrot to “Uptown Girl” — the song that was famously written about her mom by ex-husband Billy Joel — as Brinkley had originally planned to do, learning the routine in just three days.
Despite having prepped for far less time than the other contestants, who’d been practicing for weeks, she ultimately scored an 18 out of 30 — higher than everyone except for Hannah Brown and James Van Der Beek.
It seems Sailor has a chance at something, as many eagerly await this seasons scores.
