Robert Pattinson Has Been Cast As ‘The Batman’

Known mostly for his teenage portrayal of Edward Cullen in the Twilight series, the actor is trading in his vampire fangs for both a cowl and cloak. Sources at Variety has just released the news, Pattinson is from London, England originally and has now wracked up 39 acting credits.

Robert will have to balance both being Bruce Wayne and his alter ego Batman. The masked crime fighter, has been a fan favorite ever since the character premiered in Detective Comics issue #27. The character was created by both Bob Kane and Bill Finger back in 1939.

Some people are both confused and conflicted by the casting choice. Nobody has seen a screen test yet except for a few insiders. Perhaps Pattinson can pull off the role if he puts forth the effort. The biggest question for many is whether or not he can pull off being ‘The Batman’.

According to Variety Magazine, pre-production for ‘The Batman’ will start this summer. There has been no official date for release yet, but estimated to be sometime in 2021. The Warner Bros.-DC Comics picture is already causing quite a stir among comic book fans.


The casting choice was first reported about back on May 16th. There were others considered for the role but this information hasn’t been released yet. Pattinson was among a few others considered. The studio has since confirmed on Friday, that Pattinson has inked the deal to bring Batman to life again on screen.

Matt Reeves will be directing ‘The Batman’. Reeves is a writer, director and producer, known for his directorial work on Cloverfield (2008), Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014), and War for the Planet of the Apes (2017). Some think he will be a good choice for Batman, time will tell.
