Original Zombieland Cast Reunites For Sequel This October

It was a sleeper hit and quickly gathered quite a following. The world has gone to hell and a niche group of zombie slayers, are on a mission to face off against the newly evolved undead plaguing humanity.

Almost 10 years have passed since the first Zombieland film. The sequel is amply named ‘Zombieland 2: Double Tap’. The original cast returns including: Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson), Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), Wichita (Emma Stone) and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin) who have lay down some real whip ass again. 

Ruben Fleischer directed the original film and returns again for the sequel. He is known for his work on films such as Venom (2018). Returning to the director’s chair for this franchise is something he wanted to do.

Having the original cast back to any production always makes the difference. The original writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese return as well. They are known for their work on the Marvel Deadpool franchise. 

The first Zombieland film focused upon a human-adapted mad cow disease, which swept across the entire United States. This disease seemingly transformed the entire countries population except just a few people.

The sequel will pick up where the other film left off but with new twists and turns, following a plague of ravenous zombies nipping at the casts heels.

A lot has happened with the original cast since the first film. Each of the actors were nominated for Academy Awards including Emma Stone who did win a Best Actress Oscar for her role in La La Land (2016).

The main cast were not hurting for work, they genuinely seem to enjoy their characters, according to what Columbia Pictures President Stanford Panitch said during a 2018 interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Several times a sequel was stirring around to happen. It seemed like the timing was finally right and fans are eager to see the next installment of this franchise. The film will be released in theaters on October 18th.
