It seems society has sunken to a new low, as a little girl age 7 was first raped and later killed in Pakistan. Her name is Zainab Ansari and the general public wants answers, as authorities have since failed to further investigate her case.
Her body was found in a garbage dumpster in a district south of Lahore four days after she initially was reported missing. Shahbaz Sharif who is the chief minister of Punjab province, visited Ansari’s parents to assure them that the perpetrators would be apprehended soon.
Any parent losing a child, would be devastated especially if their child was abused like this. A reward was mentioned by Sharif for Rs 10 million ($90,000 USD) leading to any information to the whereabouts of Ansari’s kidnapper. Several relatives have so far, have been interrogated and 26 other local people as police continue to search for answers.
Sharif also said that he is still waiting for forensic evidence to be collected and analyzed. It is believed that the kidnapper was a local living in the area who developed familiarity with Zainab. They more than likely told her they would bring her back to her parents.
He also mentioned, that it hasn’t been ruled out yet whether or not these murders area related to a serial killer who may be out there. Ansari’s parents feel like they will never see any justice done for their daughters horrible death. This is what they said:
“We don’t have any expectations from police, as we gave proof to police including the CCTV footage, but they could do nothing.”
Known to be the 12th murder like this, within the town of Kasur in a years time, it has since raised a number of concerns by the community there. It is believed that a serial killer is on the loose and others fear for the safety of their children.
Recently, several more people were killed on Wednesday after the police open fired upon angry protesters living in Kasur. The local residents opted to close down all schools, offices and marketplaces today after all the mayhem. More demonstrations were held in other city locations, including Faisalabad located in the northeast. This is where Pakistan’s southern metropolis of Karachi is located.
Major roads were blocked off in Lahore, where Kasur is located. Many protectors went to the highway roads out of anger blocking off traffic. After this, roads were shut down for the day as backups continued to happen again. This may continue on for a while, as citizens express their outrage over the situations here.
A number of police officials have been transferred out of the region for failing to investigate complaints of missing children since 2015, when authorities uncovered what they said was a pedophile ring linked to a prominent local family.
At least two people have been convicted in connection with that case, in which authorities say hundreds of children in the district were abused.
