Catriona Gray From The Philippines Wins the 67th Miss Universe Pageant

Aside from NFL football fans watching during commercial breaks, many people tuned in last evening to watch the 67th Miss Universe Pageant. The competition was held in Bangkok, Thailand on December 17th. The show was filled full of beautiful women.

Perhaps all of this was destiny for Catriona Gray. Her mother even had a dream, when she was 13 years old, that one day she would win the Miss Universe Pageant. Quite incredibly, her dream actually came true.

Catriona explained during her interview that she works with children in poor areas of Manila. She also explained, that she is a strong advocate for the legalization of medical marijuana. Catriona is 24 years old, well spoken and a lovely looking lady. The world it seems, is now her oyster.

In the Philippines, the people are strong believers and supporters of the Miss Universe Pageant and what it stands for. Now, her country, friends and family are smiling it seems. Since the year 2010, contestants from the Philippines have never been out of the Miss Universe top 10.

A lot of eyes were on these ladies during this night. The pageant was held at the IMPACT Arena. It is located in Muang Thong Thani in Nonthaburi Province, Thailand. Catriona was later crowned Miss Universe by the former winner Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters from South Africa.

In the case of Miss Universe, between 80 and 100 countries around the world send their choice for Miss Universe. In the United States, there are 51 different contestants who participate in other pageant competitions such as Miss USA and Miss Teen USA. These two pageants are located with 50 different states and within the District of Columbia each year.

Winning Miss Universe is quite an accomplishment. Many now wonder what Miss Universe will do after winning. The winner will travel around the world spreading positivity that centers around being confidently beautiful. The empowerment of women, is the theme of this showcase competition. More opportunities for women including equal pay and other initiatives all await to be promoted by Miss Universe.

Each Miss Universe and Miss USA contestant must be between 18 and under 28 years old before January 1st (in the year they hope to compete) in the Miss Universe or Miss USA pageants.

After a winner is crowned, she later will relocate to New York City. It is here, where she will meet up with her new Miss Universe family. The organization provides a great platform each woman. They assist her in accomplishing her goals and objectives during the year. These objectives are expanded to a national and global scale. The future for Catriona Gray is bright it seems.
