Both of them seemed like they really loved one another at some point before things turned messy. Their relationship lasted for a while, but they ended their marriage to one another after 18 months.
Johnny and Amber met one another on the set of The Rum Diary back in 2011. Later, in May of 2016, Amber filed for a restraining order against Johnny Depp. She accused him of abuse which he later denied. The couple ended up settling their divorce out of court back in 2017.
Depp ended up paying Heard the sum of $7 million dollars which she later used for charity donations. Ever since these two split ways, things have become messy for them.
Since their departure from one another, Johnny Depp has accused his ex-wife Amber Heard of painting on her bruises to instigate court proceedings and further cause harm to his public image and career.
Johnny ended up launching a $50 million dollar defamation lawsuit back against 33 year old Heard. One Virginia judge, was asked by Heard to dismiss the lawsuit, drawing a response back from Depp.
Depp, 55, wrote in a declaration: “I have denied Ms Heard’s allegations vehemently since she first made them in May 2016 when she walked into court to obtain a temporary restraining order with painted-on bruises that witnesses and surveillance footage show she did not possess each day of the preceding week … I will continue to deny them for the rest of my life.”
Depp also added: “I never abused Ms Heard or any other woman.” He then went on to allege Heard was the aggressor in the relationship. He said: “She was the perpetrator, and I was the victim. While mixing prescription amphetamines and non-prescription drugs with alcohol, Ms Heard committed innumerable acts of domestic violence against me, often in the presence of a third-party witness, which in some instances caused me serious bodily harm.”
Heard’s lawyer Eric George responded by saying, “The evidence in this case is clear: Johnny Depp repeatedly beat Amber Heard … The increasingly desperate attempts by Mr Depp and his enablers to revive his career by initiating baseless litigation against so many people once close to him – his former lawyers, former managers, and his former spouse – are not fooling anyone.”
George added: “In light of the important work done by the Times Up movement highlighting the tactics abusers use to continue to traumatize survivors, neither the creative community nor the public will be gas-lit by Mr Depp’s baseless blame-the-victim conspiracy theories.”
A statement was released by the couple previously saying their relationship was “intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love”. They added: “Neither party has made false accusations for financial gain. There was never any intent of physical or emotional harm.”
