He is mostly known for his role in the Star Wars franchise portraying a character named Finn. John Boyega has also appeared in the 2018 film Pacific Rim: Uprising. Boyega initially rose to fame from his role as Moses in the sci-fi comedy film Attack the Block (2011).
His parents are Nigerian immigrants. John’s mother works with the disabled and his father is a Pentecostal preacher. While being interviewed on the Good Morning America television show, he admitted to the screw up.
John said he initially left the Star Wars script behind at his apartment. He was hanging out with friends and forgot about the script being under his bed. The next morning, his cleaning lady found the script and later placed it on the auction site eBay. It is unknown if the cleaning lady read the script or not.
Luckily, a Disney employee noticed the script for sale and quickly bought it before anyone else could. If the script had fallen into the hands of anyone else, then they would have auctioned it for a fortune. The listing was set to 65 pounds (about $84 dollars).
John has since apologized about the massive screw up and is urging the film’s director to let it go. He later commented:
“I was moving apartments, and I left the script under my bed,” Boyega said. “I was like, ‘I will leave it under my bed and when I wake up the next morning, I will take it and then move.’ But then my boys came over and we started partying a little bit. The script, it just stayed there. And a few weeks after, this cleaner comes in, finds this script and puts it on eBay for like 65 pounds.”
Most anyone would end up in real trouble in regards to something like this. The Rise of Skywalker costs hundreds of millions of dollars to create. This doesn’t include the promotional costs involved either.
The film promises to be the final installment in the Skywalker Saga and many fans are anxiously awaiting to see what happens next. The film was directed by J.J. Abrams and is due to be released on December 20th, 2019.
