Heiress Paris Hilton, recently made a comment that sent shock waves across the internet. She referred to the 2004 sex tape leaked by her then boyfriend Rick Salomon entitled “One Night in Paris”.
Paris said it was like being raped. During this time, Paris along with then friend Nicole Richie (weeks later) would go on to star on the reality TV series “The SImple Life”. Paris was already fairly well known, but this propelled her into being a household name. Some think, this was very coincidental.
The infamous sex scandal video, was co-created with Rick Salomon for their own personal use. However, the video fell into the hands of Vivid Entertainment, who has marketed the video since it’s 2004 release.
A legal battle was fought over the tape and was later settle in 2004. Hilton sought $30 million in invasion of privacy claims but in the end Salomon reached a settlement paying her the sum of $400,000 dollars.
Paris went on to say, people don’t really think about the long-term repercussions. She made mistakes earlier in her life, that she isn’t proud of and this video is among the top of the list. She should not have trusted certain individuals at the height of her fame.
After the video was released, Paris soon became the brunt of jokes across various social media platforms. She felt betrayed and broken. More than 14 years have passed, since the Paris Hilton’s sex tape was first leaked. A new documentary, allows Paris to vent about what happened to her and how she felt violated.
Paris said, “It felt like I’d lost part of my soul and been talked about in such cruel and mean ways. I literally wanted to die at some points. I was like, ‘I just don’t want to live,’ because I thought everything was taken away from me. I didn’t want to be known as that.”
Things however are looking bright for the 37 year old blonde beauty, as she is now preparing for her upcoming wedding. Her engagement to Chris Zylka has made her a happier woman it seems. Through it all, Paris has maintained her inner strength, through all the adversity that she has faced.
